  • Professional data, such as professional credentials and skills, educational and work history, candidate intake and background forms, resumes, references, strengths and values assessments, career plans, placement outcomes, role preferences, availability, compensation expectations, and other information of the type that may be included on a resume, curriculum vitae, or professional profile.

  • Content that you post or upload to areas of the Service visible to other users, such as reviews or comments.

  • Other information that we may collect which is not specifically listed here—including information you voluntarily provide to us, such as in a contact form or customer service interaction, or in surveys we offer—but which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.


Third party sources. We may combine information we receive from or about you with information we obtain from other sources such as:

  • Public sources, such as social media platforms.

  • Business partners, such as distribution partners, venture funds, accelerators, and hiring partners.


Automatic data collection. We, our service providers, and our business partners may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your activity over time on our sites, app, and online services, such as:

  • Device data, such as your computer or mobile device operating system type and version number, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, IP address, unique identifiers, the website you visited before browsing to our website, and general location information such as city, state or geographic area.

  • Online activity data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, and duration of access.


Cookies and similar technologies. Like many online services, we use the following technologies:

  • Cookies, which are text files that websites store on a visitor‘s device to uniquely identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser for the purpose of helping you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, enabling functionality and helping us understand user activity and patterns.

  • Web beacons, also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, which are used to demonstrate that a webpage or email was accessed or opened, or that certain content was viewed or clicked.


Newsletter and Email Platform Data. Groundwork delivers newsletters and communications through third-party email platforms (such as Beehiiv or similar services). These platforms may collect data including your email address, engagement metrics (such as email opens and clicks), and device or browser information. Your use of these platforms is also subject to the platform’s own terms of use and privacy policy. You may unsubscribe from marketing and newsletter communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in each email or by contacting us directly.

Online Analytics and Advertising. As you use our Service, we and our service providers may collect a variety of information through the use of “cookies” and similar technologies, such as tracking pixels, to understand how you navigate through and interact with our Service, to learn what content is popular, to enhance the Service and provide you with a more relevant and personalized experience, for authentication purposes, to save your preferences, and to collect certain usage, device and location information as described above.

Online Analytics. We may use third-party web analytics services on our Service, such as Google Analytics. These service providers use the sort of technology described in the “Cookies and similar technologies” section above to help us analyze how users use the Service. The information collected by the technology will be disclosed to or collected directly by these service providers, who use the information to evaluate your use of the Services on our behalf.   • track placement outcomes and engagement quality to improve our Services;

  • provide you with content of interest, including career resources, job opportunities, and information relevant to your professional background.


Research and development. We may use your information for research and development purposes, including to analyze and improve the Service and our business. As part of these activities, we may create aggregated, de-identified or other anonymous data from information we collect. We make information into anonymous data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable. We may use this anonymous data and disclose it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyze and improve the Service and promote our business.

Marketing. We may collect and use your information for marketing purposes:

  • Direct marketing. We may send you Groundwork-related or other direct marketing communications as permitted by law. You may opt-out of our marketing communications as described in the Opt Out of marketing section below.


Compliance and protection. We may use your information to:

  • protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims);

  • audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies;

  • enforce our Terms of Use;

  • protect, investigate and deter against fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft; and

  • comply with applicable laws, lawful requests and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities.


Other purposes with your consent. In some cases we will ask for your consent to collect, use or disclose your information for other purposes. For example, we may ask for your consent to send you marketing emails where required by law or to post your testimonial or endorsement.

  • Employers and Hiring Partners. We may disclose your professional information, including candidate profiles, resumes, background forms, references, and other professional data, with prospective employers, hiring managers, and partner organizations for the purpose of facilitating job placements, candidate matching, and related hiring activities. This includes, without limitation, sharing your information (a) directly with specific employers in connection with particular job opportunities, (b) as part of a searchable database or curated candidate list accessible to vetted employers and hiring partners, and (c) in anonymized or aggregated form for analytics, reporting, or business development purposes. Once your information is shared with an employer or hiring partner, we cannot control how they use, store, or disclose that information, and we shall not be liable for any such third-party use. You may request removal of your information from active sharing by contacting us, though information previously shared with third parties cannot be recalled.

  • Other users and the public. If you post or upload Content to areas of the Service (such as your candidate profile), such Content may be viewed, copied, and retained by others, even after you modify or delete it. We do not control how other users or third parties use any information that you make available to them.

  • Professional advisors. We may disclose your information to professional advisors, such as lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services they render to us.

  • Compliance and protection. We may disclose your information as we believe appropriate to government or law enforcement officials or private parties (a) for the compliance and protection purposes described above; (b) as required by law, lawful requests or legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities; (c) where permitted by law in connection with any legal investigation; and (d) to prosecute or defend legal claims.

Access or update Your information. If you have registered for an account with us, you may review and update certain information in your account profile by logging into the account.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the date of this Privacy Policy and posting it on the Service.
